Pfizer Pays $44 Million to Settle Chantix Cancer Risk Lawsuit
Pfizer will pay $44 million to settle allegations that Chantix tablets were contaminated with high levels of a carcinogenic nitrosamine and that the company failed to follow good manufacturing practices and violated consumer protection laws. Pfizer denies wrongdoing but agrees to settle. Purchasers in the U.S. and territories from Sept. 29, 2015 to Sept. 17, 2021 may claim pro rata payments, capped at 20% of the fund; claim forms are due by Sept. 14, 2026.
