Pelican Energy seeks permit for 650-MW battery on former BASF site
Pelican Energy Storage, LLC plans a 650-megawatt battery storage facility on about 220 acres of the former BASF property in southern James City County. The project would invest over $1 billion in construction, generate roughly 100 construction jobs plus indirect jobs, and produce about $90 million in county taxes over 25 years. It claims no air emissions and no water needs for operations.
