PayPal to cut 164 Irish jobs to simplify operations

PayPal will cut 164 Irish jobs, 11.9% of its 1,380-strong Irish workforce, affecting both remote and on-site staff. A collective redundancy notification was filed with Ireland’s Department of Enterprise on 28 August, with redundancies expected between 7 and 21 October. PayPal links the cuts to earlier plans to remove duplication and clarify reporting lines, shortly after negotiations with Stripe to acquire it reportedly fell through.
