Origin Energy’s Mortlake MLB01 battery energy storage system (650MWh) has begun commercial operations, using grid-forming inverters that can set internal voltage references and stabilise the grid when needed. After AEMO Market Management System entry in March 2026 and integration testing steps, the project proceeded following unconditional AEMO connection agreements completed in November 2025, supporting Victoria network stability.
