Ollie's Q2 sales rise 9.1% as comparable sales fall 1.8%
Comparable-store sales fell 1.8% in Q2 while Ollie’s net sales rose 9.1% to $741.3 million, helped by new store growth and a decline in average basket size. The retailer said comp sales were hurt by less favorable weather, ongoing consumer economic pressure, and an elevated promotional environment. Executives noted consumables, led by candy, as a bright spot. Ollie’s opened 15 new stores and closed one for storm damage, and grew its Ollie’s Army loyalty members 12.7% to 18.1 million.
