Norfolk Southern is expanding a Wabtec locomotive modernization program to convert 33 Evolution Series ES44DC units from DC to AC traction. The rebuild will add AC traction motors, updated control systems and digital technology to improve performance, reliability and efficiency while extending existing locomotives’ service life. The effort supports the railroad’s fleet strategy for safe, dependable customer service.
