Norfolk Southern increased its order for DC-to-AC traction conversions from eight to 33 locomotives under the ES44DC-to-ES44ACM modernization program with Wabtec. Units 7781–7813 will be rebuilt with AC traction motors, upgraded control systems and digital technologies, with eight deliveries expected this year and 25 scheduled for 2027, including work at Wabtec’s Erie plant.
