Nissan to Shift Minivan Production to Tochigi Plant
Nissan will transfer production of two minivan models, the Serena and the high-end Elgrand, from subsidiary-run plants in Kanda, Fukuoka Prefecture, to its Tochigi plant north of Tokyo. The move targets lower capacity use amid slower EV growth and aims to consolidate similar models. Nissan is also pursuing turnaround restructuring that includes closing seven plants in Japan and overseas.
