Nippon Steel raises U.S. Steel profit guidance and lifts its outlook
U.S. Steel’s business profit rose 50% to 145.5 billion yen, but underlying profit fell year on year. Nippon Steel lifted U.S. Steel’s fiscal 2026 business profit guidance to 180 billion yen from 100 billion yen and now expects over 700 billion yen in underlying profit for the year. It plans to invest $11 billion in the U.S. by end-2028 to boost throughput, energy efficiency, productivity and quality.
