NHTSA expands GM pickup and SUV engineering probe into engine failures
U.S. highway safety officials opened a higher-level engineering analysis into engine failures affecting certain 2021–2024 GM pickups and SUVs. The move follows GM’s 2025 recall of nearly 600,000 vehicles, where regulators received thousands of complaints even after repairs. NHTSA also cited additional reports for related engines and possible crashes, minor injuries, and fire reports, while GM continues cooperating.
