NHPC Seeks Shareholders Approval to Raise Borrowing Limit to Rs 70,000 Crore

NHPC will place a special resolution before shareholders at its Aug 28, 2026 AGM to raise its borrowing cap to Rs 70,000 crore from Rs 60,000 crore. The company says a robust capex plan will lift tentative debt needs to about Rs 67,500 crore over the next five years, exceeding the current limit within three years. Borrowing authorization is capped at Rs 70,000 crore and projects are planned on a 70:30 debt-equity basis.
