NextEra said it will receive up to a $1.9 billion loan from the U.S. Department of Energy to support restarting the Duane Arnold Energy Center in Iowa, pending regulatory approvals for a 2029 return. Construction is underway for a training center and warehouse, with reactor pressure vessel cleaning finished and work on the main turbine. The 615 MW plant and a Google power purchase agreement are expected to strengthen grid reliability and drive an estimated $9 billion economic impact over 25 years.
