NextEra Energy executed definitive agreements with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Government of Japan to fund development and operations of up to 10 GW of natural gas generation in Texas and Pennsylvania. The first $3.3 billion investment will support development, including down payments on long-lead equipment and contractor selection. The South Mon project totals $17 billion for 4.3 GW, aiming to lower energy prices and create thousands of jobs.
