National Grid will award $845M (£624M) in contracts to 78 companies across England and Wales for electricity network maintenance and transmission upgrades over the next five years. The programme supports new connections and increased demand, with 69 small and medium-sized suppliers involved. For a major converter station project, early estimates suggest about 270 local jobs and more than 3,000 apprenticeship weeks.
