A proposed takeover of Barcelona’s Barcelona Europe South container terminal by Terminal Investment Limited, a Mediterranean Shipping Company subsidiary, and Blackrock has been put on hold. The European Commission opened an investigation over preliminary concerns about higher prices or reduced service and possible preferential treatment for MSC’s shipping arm, but MSC and Blackrock withdrew the merger notification, leaving no deal for the Commission to review.
