Moderna Starts Phase 1 Trial of Ebola Vaccine for DR Congo Bundibugyo Strain
Moderna has begun a Phase 1 clinical trial in Canada for an Ebola vaccine targeting the Bundibugyo strain circulating in eastern DR Congo. The study will vaccinate about 80 participants to assess safety and tolerability using mRNA-1469. With more than 3,700 cases and 1,600 deaths, there are no FDA-approved vaccines for this strain, and CEPI is funding the trial with up to $50 million.
