Milestones remaining before Boeing 777-9 and MAX jets enter service
After years in certification delays, Boeing’s newest aircraft are nearing service. 737 MAX 10 certification flights ended July 28 after nearly 1,000 flights and more than 2,000 flight hours, and 737 MAX 7 is expected to be certified this fall. Boeing completed new engine anti-ice and an FAA-required crew alerting update in 2025, and must retrofit MAX 8 and MAX 9. 777-9 is the first variant in its family.
