Microsoft’s 100/100/0 clean-power target, launched in 2021, is proving difficult amid AI and cloud-driven demand growth, with US data-center electricity use projected to soar to 106 GW by 2035. The company expects to spend $190B through year-end largely on data centers, and is also in talks with Chevron on funding a major West Texas natural-gas plant.
