Days after New York City Public Schools banned student-facing AI for younger students, Microsoft and the American Federation of Teachers and United Federation of Teachers announced a National AI Safety & Privacy Standard. The agreement bars Microsoft from tracking students, using student or teacher data to train AI models, or letting AI decide in schools without human oversight, and requires clear disclosures and safeguards.
