Meta is asking some individual contributors in its Applied AI division to transition back into management roles as part of a reshuffle, according to four people familiar with the matter. The opt-in program partially reverses Meta’s prior push to cut middle management and rely on flatter teams after layoffs. Applied AI trains AI models, and Meta previously reassigned about 7,000 employees to it. Meta declined to comment.
