Meta has begun asking individual contributors in its Applied AI (AAI) division whether they want to transition back into manager roles as part of an internal reorganization. The move comes after Meta reassigned about 7,000 employees into AAI earlier this year to support a flatter structure, and it reported that May workforce reductions affected roughly 8,000 people. Meta’s expenses rose to $42 billion as it invested heavily in AI.
