Meta Platforms is upgrading AI infrastructure using closed-loop liquid cooling across most of its newest AI-optimized data centers. The water-and-glycol coolant is circulated through servers and heat exchangers and reused for up to a decade, reducing ongoing water use while enabling higher GPU density. A pilot using reinforcement learning cut air-cooling fan energy by an average of 20% and reduced water consumption by 4%.
