Merck to Cut 54 Jobs in New Jersey Under $3B Cost Plan
Merck plans another reduction of 54 positions at its global headquarters in Rahway, New Jersey, in two phases starting December 2026 and January 2027, per documents filed with the state’s labor department. The cuts support a multiyear effort to save $3 billion annually by 2027, projected to reduce about 6,000 jobs globally, and to fund new product launches. Merck says it employs more than 8,000 people in New Jersey and has invested nearly $3 billion there since 2018.
