Memphis International Airport Renamed for FedEx Founder, with Service Day
Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority honored late FedEx founder Frederick W. Smith by renaming Memphis International Airport and launching the inaugural FedEx FWS Day of Service. The tribute highlighted the Memphis hub’s role in sorting millions of packages daily and ended with a ceremonial Flight 1944 landing of a Rosie-named 777. FedEx Cares volunteer events ran worldwide.
