Mayor backs Queens bill to regulate Amazon delivery drivers
Mayor Zohran Mamdani backed a Queens “Delivery Protection Act” aimed at limiting Amazon and other companies’ use of contracted delivery drivers. The bill would require DPS delivery firms to be licensed and raise safety, training and employment requirements. Amazon’s Queens warehouses face criticism after DPS drivers unionized at two sites and one worker says he was fired for speaking out, with warnings that 5,000 jobs could be at risk.
