Maryland Sues UnitedHealth and Optum Over Medicaid System Failures
Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown sued UnitedHealth Group and Optum Inc. in Baltimore City Circuit Court, alleging they violated the Maryland False Claims Act over a Medicaid behavioral-health computer system that crashed on its first day and was taken offline for months. Brown cited tens of millions in taxpayer costs and said the failure jeopardized care for 1.5 million people on Medicaid.
