LUMA and AES Puerto Rico energize 115-kV line for Jobos solar and storage
LUMA and AES Puerto Rico energized a new 115-kilovolt transmission line connecting the Jobos Solar and Jobos BESS projects to Puerto Rico’s grid. Testing will begin for the island’s first utility-scale BESS ahead of commercial operations in Q4 2026. The projects add 80 MW of solar and 110 MW of four-hour storage (about 440 MWh). Solar generation is enough for the equivalent of ~25,000 homes, peaking near ~40,000 at midday. Project Marahú, backed by over $860 million in U.S. DOE support, includes the Jobos projects.
