Lula Says Petrobras Oil Find Near Amazon Could Boost Brazil’s Future
Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said oil drilling in northern and northeastern coastal regions could be a “passport” for Brazil’s future after visiting a Petrobras offshore vessel tied to a new find near the mouth of the Amazon River. Petrobras has said its drilling has never caused spills. Lula also argued Brazil can transition from fossil fuels while remaining a major renewable and biofuel player.
