LG Energy Solution Begins Production at New Michigan Battery Factory

LG Energy Solution has started production at its new Lansing, Michigan battery plant, making large-format batteries for energy storage systems and electric vehicles, including energy-dense nickel-manganese-cobalt cells for Toyota. The facility targets 35 GWh annual capacity and about 1,700 jobs once fully operational. In December 2024, GM entered a non-binding deal to sell its stake to the JV partner, and LG previously agreed to sell its Ohio JV stake to Honda for $2.85 billion.
