Nearly 300 Lakewood residents described fear and instability from power outages, including lost medications, medical devices unable to charge, and traffic lights and cell service failing. Local businesses also lost power, and 28% reported adverse health impacts or dangerous risks. Residents said planned outages lacked communication, and in Dec. 2025 the city filed a case to prevent FirstEnergy from lowering reliability standards.
