Kroger Foot Traffic Falls 0.22% in July as Sector Struggles
Kroger’s customer foot traffic declined 0.22% in July versus the prior month, according to Jefferies research, and the company ranked among the bottom performers across 16 national grocery retailers. The drop reflects near-flat traffic for conventional grocers amid inflation-driven budget pressure and shifts to big-box stores, which could hurt fresh categories. Kroger CEO Gregory Foran said the firm must streamline execution and sharpen its value proposition as operating costs outpace sales.
