Korean Air’s board ratified the Asiana Airlines merger agreement on Aug. 12 under South Korean simplified merger rules, while Asiana’s extraordinary general meeting approved the deal. Attendance was 81.86% and 99.3% of represented shares (167.44 million) voted in favor. After creditor protection and administrative steps, legal registration is scheduled for Dec. 17, when the integrated company will launch.
