Korea Zinc Tennessee smelter to supply chip-grade sulfuric acid to US fabs
Semiconductor-grade sulfuric acid made at Korea Zinc’s Tennessee smelter is intended to help US fabs expanding at a historic scale that currently struggle to source it domestically. The company is cited as a CHIPS success after receiving $7.4 billion to build a critical mineral smelter in the US, with Project Crucible targeted for 2029 operation and 540,000 metric tons per year of processed materials.
