Korea Zinc Boosts Ultra-High-Purity Semiconductor Sulfuric Acid Capacity to 320,000 Tons
Korea Zinc increased annual production capacity of ultra-high-purity semiconductor sulfuric acid to 320,000 tons to support new capacity coming online at major Korean semiconductor makers investing in AI infrastructure. The acid is made by recovering and refining SO₂ from its zinc and lead smelting. The company also obtained UK Carbon Trust PCF certification in Dec 2024 and plans further expansion toward 500,000 tons, plus a potential Tennessee line from 2029 trial operations.
