Kia Union Approves Wage Deal, Avoiding Planned Strike
Kia’s labor union approved a tentative wage agreement with 64.1% of voting members, from a turnout of 91% of its 24,710 workers. The deal was reached a day before a planned strike, which was therefore averted. Kia will increase monthly base pay by 100,000 won, add a performance bonus over 400% of monthly salary, and provide an additional 12.7 million won per employee, extending strike-free wage talks to a sixth straight year.
