Judge Rules Chemours Liable for Illegal Dumping of Forever Chemicals
A federal judge ruled that Chemours is legally responsible for trespassing after the company’s Fayetteville Works plant illegally dumped forever chemicals into the Cape Fear River since 1980. The decision cements Chemours’ liability for invading private property and poisoning drinking water across New Hanover, Bladen, Brunswick, Cumberland, and Pender counties. A jury trial is set for next March to determine damages for affected residents.
