Judge Questions Venue for Coupang Data Breach Class Action
A U.S. judge in Brooklyn pressed lawyers on why a Coupang data-breach class action belongs in the Eastern District of New York. Plaintiffs filed Feb. 6 in that court seeking about $5 million from Coupang and founder Bom Kim for alleged exposure of personal data tied to 33.79 million Korean customer accounts, with claims for roughly 7,800 victims in Korea and the U.S.
