Johnson Controls Guide Converts Data Centre Waste Heat to AI Compute Power
Johnson Controls released a reference design for data centre operators that use on-site power generation and redirect waste heat into cooling systems instead of venting it to the atmosphere. The company says the approach can cut cooling electricity demand by up to 44% and add compute capacity—e.g., a 1GW AI factory could support 97MW more AI compute—without boosting generation, improving efficiency and generating up to US$18bn in added revenue over a facility’s life.
