Kyle Owens of Laurens, Iowa, sued Nintendo of America and The Pokémon Company International for $341,000 after they denied his Pokémon Professor certification despite a perfect test score. The Pokémon Company revoked his certification after finding disorderly conduct, weapons offense, and criminal mischief charges with pending warrants. A judge dismissed four consolidated pro se cases and warned of Rule 11 sanctions for further frivolous filings.
