Intel has published a continuation application for an orbital data center architecture filed Dec. 29, 2025. The patent proposes a two-tier network where low Earth orbit satellite fleets are coordinated by higher, more capable platforms that run edge compute and provide routing for the LEO layer. A Feb. 2026 filing lists possible orbit choices and names inventors Stepgen T. Palermo, Valerie J. Parker and Udayan Mukherjee.
