India Warns Diageo Over Misleading Whisky Maturing Claim

India’s food regulator issued a July 20 notice and then prohibited sales of Diageo’s Royal Challenge Whisky in Madhya Pradesh, along with some Diageo and India’s Inbrew brands in certain states. The FSSAI said the products use artificial flavouring rather than proper ageing and ingredients, challenging labels claiming maturation in American oak casks.
