India Bans Sale of Some Diageo and Inbrew Liquor for Artificial Flavouring
India’s food safety regulator barred sales of certain Diageo and Inbrew whiskies and rum after tests found artificial flavouring substances were effectively replicating beverage flavours rather than proper ageing and ingredients. FSSAI ordered a ban covering Diageo’s United Spirits brands such as Antiquity Blue and Royal Challenge in Madhya Pradesh and McDowell’s No 1 Rum in Maharashtra; Diageo says labels comply and is challenging the order in court.
