Imperial Oil adds rail handling capacity at Strathcona to ease congestion
Imperial Oil said its 20,000 barrels/day Strathcona facility near Edmonton began production in July 2025 and is being run with a priority on renewable diesel, which improved margins but lowered crude throughput. As renewable diesel ramps, it identified rail-yard congestion and is adding rail handling capacity, including extra track and laydown areas, targeting completion by year-end.
