IBM introduced its Nighthawk r2 quantum processor, first unveiled in November 2025, featuring 120 qubits with 218 tunable couplers and 120 reset elements for 458 physical quantum elements. IBM says it targets higher quality and speed versus r1, enables quantum computations 25x faster than Heron, and demonstrated accurate estimation on circuits with over 7,500 gates, advancing a reset bottleneck and supporting upcoming quantum systems.
