IBM and Red Hat Offer Lightwell Free to Universities, NGOs and Think Tanks
Lightwell uses AI-driven automation plus engineering expertise to identify, validate and remediate open source vulnerabilities, providing eligible universities, NGOs and think tanks with validated, digitally signed fixes for versions they already run. Access aims to avoid disruptive upgrades while supporting research and humanitarian work. Lightwell’s coverage has grown from 6,500 to over 8,000 package versions, including fixes for 64 previously undisclosed vulnerabilities, with onboarding starting August 2026.
