Hyundai and LG Energy Solution Begin Used EV Battery ESS Demonstration Project

Hyundai Motor and Kia, alongside Hyundai Engineering and Wonik PNE, are launching a full-scale demonstration to repurpose used EV batteries as energy storage systems under the UBESS initiative. A UBESS facility with 200 kWh capacity will operate with an EV fast charger, validating a next-generation reuse business model. LG Energy Solution is included in the cooperation and plans to manufacture UBESS using supplied used battery packs.
