Huawei is playing a central role in China’s push to build lithography equipment by coordinating component suppliers and helping chipmakers test domestic tools. It collaborated on an advanced Chinese DUV machine being tested by SMIC and Huawei, and is investing in related light-source development via Habo’s stake in Beijing RSLaser. The effort is unlikely to replace ASML systems in the short term, while ASML continues developing its technology.
