Honda Targets ¥1.5T in Supplier Savings and Renews Hybrid Focus
Honda plans to squeeze suppliers and cut costs to save 1.5 trillion yen by 2030, as Chinese EV makers such as BYD gain share in Southeast Asia, Latin America and Europe with lower prices and advanced batteries and software. Honda’s EV losses exceed $12 billion. The push leans on stronger hybrid investment, but supplier savings alone may not close software and battery gaps and could raise supply-chain risks.
