A single N700ST high-speed trainset, 12 cars and about 300 meters long, has been shipped to Taiwan as part of Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation’s May 2023 order for 12 sets. Designed from the N700S Shinkansen lineage, it targets 300 km/h operations and includes a self-propelled battery system using Toshiba lithium-ion batteries for outage backup, alongside new exterior and interior styling.
