The State of Hesse and Rheinmetall plan to further develop North Hesse as a defence and innovation centre, aiming to strengthen the region economically. With state funding, Rheinmetall will build a logistics and technology centre at Kassel-Calden Airport, expand its Kassel site, and set up a drone test centre, supporting Bundeswehr training flights and local R&D to create jobs for partners and suppliers.
